Ban Data Centers

From "Community Pulse"

Go to the project

Recently learning about the proposed mega-data center project in King of Prussia/Upper Merion Township, I realized that my residence, in Upper Dublin would be “downwind” of that data center, as would every MontCo township to the east of Upper Merion, to some degree.

This realization made the issue hit much harder and closer to home, and I believe that every MontCo county needs to be aware of the data centers being proposed and constructions to areas west, which fall in the area from which winds would move to deliver dangerous pollution from data centers to our townships.

I recently learned, on the PennEnvironment website, in a flyer about the dangers of gas-powered leaf blowers, that Montgomery County has the highest air pollution of all Pennsylvania counties. We can not afford more air pollution if we want our county to thrive. Data centers should be banned in all of MontCo. Politicians repeatedly sell out Pennsylvania’s health, well-being and land values to corporate interests, and I for one am sick of it. Fracking should be a case in point. People’s well water went bad, their properties unsellable, their health harmed. We can not just bow to the highest bidders and expect to have our health and properties intact.
