High density housing works well with set space dedicated to a commons area and small pocket parks. Even an open field where people, adults and children can gather. You can see the benefits of small open spaces from successful developments. You can also see where it is not as one drives around ongoing new construction.

Concern with high density is the management of water, wastewater, and stormwater. In high density housing water needs to be plumbed in and wastewater and stormwater needs to be plumbed out. This makes high density housing reliant on other locations for the provision of the water related necessities of life. Water needs to be addressed locally to be efficient and effective.
