It's an important point, Erin, and one I think about often. I believe all residents and visitors in the county should be able to enjoy our trails. These public spaces should be easily accessible to everyone, not just people with access to a car and to drivers. It's a big goal, certainly a vision to work toward in a long-range comprehensive plan and I am glad for your comment!
Feeder trails

Go to the project
Get pedestrians and cyclists off busy roads and onto nearby trails by offering an abundance of access points, rather than just trailhead parking lots. Currently, even when people are very close to major trails, the only safe way to access them is to get in the car and drive to a trailhead.

Lack of feeder trails is a major issue for access to primary trails by anything other than a car. But bike lanes to achieve this are also important, as are maps, printed or online, which show people quite street routes to trails and key crossing points of busy roads.
