In corporate commercial opportunities into Park Plan

From "Lafayette Street Trail Gateway Master Plan (Norristown)"

Go to the project

I am a frequent user of the SRT between Audubon and Conshohocken. It would be great if this park idea included the possibility for at least one or more commercial locations for restaurant/food/drink vendors.

When I ride the trail with people who are not serious bikers, they often need to stop and rest between Conshy and Valley Forge Park. Just like Conshy has commercial spaces right along the trail for food/drink business, it would be great if there were places for pop-up/foodtruck vendors along the Norristown stretch of trail. Rent from these commercial spaces could be designated for the upkeep/development of this proposed linear park.

Ellen - I just looked at the link you provided. Unfortunately I think the info on this page is WAY too vague: "Flexible community space for meetings, events, and vendors." These words won't mean much to someone planning a commercial enterprise. If the county really wants pop-up type food vendors at this location, this desire needs to be expressed in a much more direct way. There should be more details posted and contact info for companies interested in participating. I would hope the county is interested in making the Trail Junction Center a vital community location from day one. Since ground has been broken on the work to get the building site ready, it would be great to see associated planning for lining up vendors to also move forward. In this way, the economic impact as the ROI from the county will not be delayed.
Ellen - Thanks for this response. It is good to know this type of commercial activity is being planned for the Trail Junction Center. I did not know about the plans being shared at the Norristown Library. Maybe the county should consider info sessions for this type of planning beyond locations just in Norristown, so residents around the county have a better understanding of how their tax dollars are being spent. I a pretty connected with what is going on with bike infrastructure in the county and this county web site, but did not know about this event nor could I have made it to Norristown from where I live on week day. I hope you had good turnout from those who were local.
