Good information! The report references the increasing diversification of the county. I would also recommend analyzing the distribution of populations across Census Tracts (or even block groups), and across different housing types -- and considering any equity-related implications. For instance, the U.S. Census Bureau provides various different estimates of the median household income, including for all households as well as according to the race/ethnicity of the head-of-household, etc. How much of each municipality's housing stock is affordable to the median household in the county generally? How much is affordable to the median households of all different socio-economic backgrounds? Are all different housing types throughout the county currently accessible to households of different backgrounds? Analyzing this type of information (among other metrics) may be important to understanding whether Montgomery County and its municipalities are providing opportunities for residents of different backgrounds and experiences -- and, if not, what potential policy solutions may be available to address any barriers to opportunity.
MJ, our hope is to create a housing needs analysis that will provide a deeper analysis of housing needs that will get incorporated into our final plan. Stay tuned!
