Hi Scott, thank you for sharing your concerns. Congestion is one issue, but the way left-turning traffic blocks through movement can also affect safety and driver expectations. Roundabouts can be useful in some locations because they reduce certain types of conflict points and encourage slower, more consistent vehicle speeds.
They are not a universal fix, though. A location like this would still need to be evaluated for traffic volumes, available space, pedestrian crossings, sight distance, and nearby roadway conditions.

The intersection of Flourtown Road and Thomas Road often gets congested and left turning traffic can block through movements when it does. Installing a roundabout at this location would help the flow of traffic better and make it much safer.
