A left turn that blocks through traffic can create delay, but the blind curve you noted is the more important safety concern. Roundabouts can be effective in the right location because they can slow vehicles, reduce conflict points, and keep traffic moving more steadily. They are not suitable everywhere, though, and factors such as sight distance, traffic volumes, available right-of-way, pedestrian crossings, grades, and nearby driveways all matter. If a roundabout is not appropriate here, an all-way stop or other traffic-control change would also need to be evaluated based on the specific conditions at the intersection.
