Please do not spend one more dollar trying to find something to do with this prison property.
The report says it all, the building is so deteriorated parts of it could not be safely accessed. It is full of asbestos and would require extensive changes and removal of the jail structure to do anything with the building. Even the parking area was noted to have issues requiring extensive work.
You just raised our taxes. The county and Norristown has issues with homelessness and other issues which better deserve any additional tax dollar which might be spent on this project. You have a building in Norristown down on the bike trail which was bought and upgraded over two years ago and it still sits empty.
If this jail property has any worth, sell it to a private developer with some assurances, if it is turned into hosing, some of it is designated as affordable housing.
