Hi Cassie!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts for Montco 2050. The concept of the “third place” is indeed very important for community planning; we wholeheartedly agree that third places should be safe and welcoming for everyone to enjoy. While free transportation may not be realistic, more affordable mobility, as well as multiple mode options in general beyond driving, are goals we intend to prioritize in the plan. And regarding fiscal incentives for more community third places? There are definitely opportunities through various grants. All great feedback for Montco 2050.
Third Spaces

I would like to see more third spaces in Montgomery County by 2050. People of all ages deserve more safe, fun, and diverse places to gather. These spaces should be accessible with affordable and ideally free transportation. Fiscal incentives for the creation and maintenance of places like libraries, cafes, athletic clubs, recreation centers, parks, shelters, and privately owned businesses would boost the economy and promote a sense of belonging in the community.

So right. Fully agree. Now here is a 'micro' piece that seems to be sorely ignored by both townships, municipalities and builders/developers. POCKET PARKS Look around to other to both high income and workforce housing where a local meet up at a commons or tot lot affords local community to flourish. When any subdivision goes in there needs to be such a place. Even some non-profit housing developers realize the benefit of young families having a walkable open space resource in their neighborhoods.
