Hi Scott, thank you for another thoughtful comment. This is a good example of how turning movements can affect both congestion and safety at an intersection. When left-turning vehicles block through traffic, it can create delay, driver frustration, and sometimes less predictable movements as people try to get around the blockage.
Left-turn lanes and signal phasing can help in some locations, but they also depend on traffic volumes, crash history, available right-of-way, pedestrian crossings, and the surrounding roadway context. We’ll make sure this intersection is part of future conversations with PennDOT.

The intersection of Stenton Avenue and West Wissahickon Avenue often gets congested and left turning traffic can block through movements when it does. Installing left turn lanes at this location would help the flow of traffic better and make it much safer. Additional left turn phases for the signal might also be necessary.
