Upper Gwynedd Park-Sci Playground Revitalization
Upper Gwynedd Township is excited to announce the beginning of the outreach process for our beloved Parkside Place Playground. The Castle Park structure has been a defining factor of the Upper Gwynedd community for 30 years, and we hope to continue its legacy for many more years to come. Unfortunately, due to its age, the structure as a whole is in need of some TLC, and some changes will be necessary. There is the potential for new creative elements and higher accessibility and safety features to truly make this a playground for all. This site will be resource to hear about our outreach events, public meetings, and materials we create throughout the process.
Phases
Initial Outreach and Surveying
The playground has been cherished by residents and visitors, so when we were told there needed to be some serious renovations due to safety, we knew we needed to gather the Township’s input and reached out to Montgomery County Planning Commission (MCPC) for assistance on this community outreach process. Throughout this phase, we worked closely with our passionate steering committee of residents to brainstorm ideas, and attend and host outreach events. We launched our initial survey at the Unity for Kindness Festival, and have further worked to specifically engage youth and teens through the launch and completion of the youth and teens surveys at various community events. Our goal is to create a space which reflects the needs and hopes of the Township in 2025. Through all the surveying, we reached and were able to hear from over 650 members of the community!
